Hi Rodewaryer,
I have had the pleasure of driving what is left of the old Brooklands banking.
Back in 1985 when I used to have a Willys Jeep. (I traced its history back to North Africa) One weekend my then girlfriend and I went out for a drive and came across Brooklands and as no one was around, we did look to see, I had a nose around some of the old buildings and ventured on to the track. Although very bumpy and with some parts with huge cuts taken through you could get a feel for what it must have been like to drive."Awesome", although I feel that a Willys Jeep was not the best vehicle to use to do any kind of justice to such a historic racing circuit. |

Well today was a special day in the life of my Series 1 Alpine.
It has been just over 20 years since for some unknown reason, I decided to do a ground up restoration. Much has change in the world since that fateful day so long ago, but one thing has remained constant, the beauty of a simple British Sports car. A Sunbeam Alpine, my Sunbeam Alpine.
It was only a short trip down to the end of drive and back but a major milestone in the long trip back onto the road.
The end is in sight. Its so close I can almost taste it. The open road calls.

Not sure what sort of message I am supposed to post here?
Bought my first Alpine (a Series IV GT) in 1975.
Came back to Alpines in 2005 with a Series V GT that has since been converted to dual fuel.
Been to the last 3 'Nationals'.
Regards,
Ken Watson. |

Ah, whoops.
My name is Richard, and I am a caraholic. I thought I'd cured myself, but then went and bought the first Alpine I saw. Clearly I'm an idiot. _________________ Obsessive car nut; 127 cars since 1992.
