In December at Bob's kind invitation we travelled down to the Somerset Area's Christmas Dinner. The Nag's Head Tavern at Thornfalcon was warm and inviting after a wet and windswept drive. The food and hospitality were excellent and paved the way for a joint meeting we hope to accomplish this year.
Steve and John D organised our own super Christmas meal at The Swan, Emery Down, where 11 of us enjoyed a good evening.
Boxing morning we braved the cold and displayed the car in Wickham Square. There were a vast array of machinery from Harleys and scooters to a tractor and traction engine. In between were Healeys, E types, Porsches and a magnificent Chevy Corvette.
New years day saw us on the Prom at Bournemouth, where none other than 8 Alpines arrived. It was a very cold day and yes there were people swimming (in aid of charity). None of the Alpine aficionados took off as much as a woolly hat. It was a super display of classic cars. The officials were still counting them in at 200 and they kept coming.
Let's hope that locally and nationally we have a great 50th anniversary year.
