Hello,
I have recently been given a Sunbeam Alpine. It has no ID tags and no doc's but as yet not unduly worried as I am thinking of doing a complete stripdown and rebuild as she is not in a pretty state.
I have spent many hours burning the midnight oil to get an understanding of this pretty car and would very much like to see it returned to it's former glory.
Has anyone got any photos of sill and floor rebuilds they wouldn't mind posting so that I could get an idea if what has to be done, please.
I have what appears to be a Holbay engine but could be a Hunter unit (Holbay imbossed rocker cover, 3040810???? stamped on engine) with stromberg carbs, steel plate in front of engine with engine mounts.
Gearbox is overdrive unit but it seems too long to go up, if installed on engine it would not fit behind X bracing under floor and has seperate U/J on output shaft.
Rear axle seems iffy, but I have also got a spare seriesIII (?) with springs would that fit straight up as a complete assembly?
I also have an assortment of parts in crates but they will all come later.
I think it is a series V as it doesn't have the bin covers for the hood to fold down into just a factory welded plate that some bright spark has cut large holes for speakers in some past incarnation.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou
