Can anyone tell me the actual paint colour for the flame trap on my series 1V. In the parts book the Flame trap has the same part number for every series... so my next question... were they all the same colour or different colours in different series ?

I'm fairly sure it was silver - maybe the Hammered finish. I don't think gray came along until after the Alpine. Is your oil filler cap painted silver? If so, I think it's the same.
I could try to look at the drg. at Westcott on the 17th.

I was referring to the SAOC Committee Meeting - I wasn't aware of an open day. Do you want me to look? Can you save me trouble and give me the part number please?

I'm with it now Chris ! It's the committee meeting on the Sat and the open day on the Sunday. Yes,I would like you to look if you have time as i'm sure you have far more idea than me where to find the info.
In the parts book it qoutes the same part number for series 1V and V Flame traps.
The part number is 1228004. Thanks.

I did look at the original Rootes drawing (with Matt Olsen's help - thank you). Colour was 'hammer grey'. No more info on the drg. I think this is the paint also used on the oil filler cap, and it's close to silver Hammerite.
The eBay one is in a Chrysler packet, which means it was made after late 1969. I guess black was cheaper than 'hammer grey'. Didn't Henry Ford discover the same thing?
