The Wedgewood Blue paint (code 53) on my series 3 looks very patchy, because the previous owner touched up various blemishes with Triumph Wedgewood Blue, which is a deeper shade than the Rootes colour.
The car really needs stripping and respraying, but before it is worth doing that, some bodywork faults would need sorting, and I don't want to get into that just now. Therefore, during the winter, I thought I would try and make the car look a bit better by using cutting compound to rub away the Triumph colour and put a shine on the flat original paint. Unfortunately, a trial rub down on one tail fin went through to the primer, so now I need to touch it up with the proper Rootes colour (accepting that it won't be a full match because the old paint has faded).
I think I have heard that it is possible to have paint specially mixed and put into empty aerosols, but presumably I would need to quote the correct paint mix formula. Am I right with this, and if so, does anyone know what the formula is? Thanks.
